I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with Valentine’s Day.

On one hand, Feb. 14 is a great day to show your spouse, your kids and other loved ones that you care about and appreciate them. On the other, when it comes to romantic relationships, there’s pressure involved with gift-giving and/or planning the day.

What should I get him or her that won’t be disappointing or too over-the-top? What if he or she gets me something really nice and my gift doesn’t compare? Those questions are stressful.

Furthermore, Valentine’s Day can be a slap in the face for those who aren’t in a romantic relationship. They can be a harsh reminder of a bad breakup, cause someone to relive the disappointment or frustration of dating sites, or bring up the sadness of feeling unattached and lonely.
